Christmas Tree Lighting
On a Monday evening in early December, we gather under the Pavilion to light the town Christmas Tree. Marshmallows are toasted in the firepits for s’mores, while we wait for the arrival of Santa Claus.
The Blueberry Patchers 4-H Club organizes this community egg hunt on Good Friday, held rain or shine. There are small animals to pet, coloring, and a storytime.
On a Wednesday in Mid-July, as part of our Summer Reading Program, members of the West Greenwich Police Department, Department of Public Works, and Fire and Rescue Departments bring their fire engines, police cruisers, payloader, dump trucks and other large and very special vehicles for children to explore! (Grown-ups love it too.)
Louttit Library’s Miss Stephanie has Storytime during the school year. Storytime may include music, fingerplays, movement and song, picture books, and a craft. Check our newsletter or Facebook page for dates, times, and themes.

SRP – Summer Reading Program
Every summer, the library sponsors a Summer Reading Program for all school-aged children, designed to combat “the summer slide,” the documented tendency for students to lose some of the academic achievement gains they made during the previous school year. Prizes, raffles, discount coupons to museums/attractions and other incentives are offered to participants for signing up and participating in this program.
Book & Film Group
Every 4-6 weeks the Book & Film Group meets to discuss a chosen book and watch its film adaptation on the big screen on our Community Center. Check our newsletter or Facebook page for dates, times and titles.
General Speakers/Author Events
Adult Yoga is Wednesday evenings from 6pm to 7pm. Email or call the library for registration and other information.
The library’s central location and extended hours provide a convenient drop-off site for various community group drives. Please contact the library if your West Greenwich community group/organization would like to use the library as a collection site.
