Annual Events

ANNUAL EVENTS

Christmas Tree Lighting

On a Monday evening in early December, we gather under the Pavilion to light the town Christmas Tree. Marshmallows are toasted in the firepits for s’mores, while we wait for the arrival of Santa Claus.

Egg Hunt

As part of our spring Storytime programming for preschool-aged children, we host an Egg Hunt on the playground complete with a visit from the Easter bunny.

Memorial Day Parade

Would you like to "march" in the parade? Patrons are welcome to join us for this annual event.  Dress as a favorite character and walk the one-mile parade route while we pass out candy.

Touch-a-Truck

As part of our Summer Reading Program, members of the West Greenwich Police Department, Department of Public Works, and Fire and Rescue Departments bring their fire engines, police cruisers, payloader, dump trucks, and other large and very special vehicles for children to explore! (Grown-ups love it too.)

CHILDREN'S PROGRAMS

Storytime

Louttit Library’s Miss Stephanie has Storytime during the school year. Storytime may include music, fingerplays, movement and song, picture books, and a craft. Check our newsletter or Facebook page for dates, times, and themes.

Crafts

Our Children’s Program offers drop-in crafts throughout the year, as well as a craft with Storytime. Check our newsletter or Facebook page for dates, times, and themes.

SRP – Summer Reading Program

Every summer, the library sponsors a Summer Reading Program for all school-aged children, designed to combat “the summer slide,” the documented tendency for students to lose some of the academic achievement gains they made during the previous school year. Prizes, raffles, discount coupons to museums/attractions and other incentives are offered to participants for signing up and participating in this program.

Movies

We host Movies & Pizza with new and popular G and PG rated movies.  Check our newsletter or Facebook page for dates, times, and selections.
