We’ve got winter reading challenges for readers of all ages: little readers, kids, tweens and teens, and adults. Sign up the whole family! Complete your challenge on Beanstack and you’ll be entered to win a reader’s prize basket! The program begins Monday, December 21 and ends Friday, February 12. Click here to get started on Beanstack.
READING CHALLENGES
Little Readers (Babies-PreK)
Winter is a great time for cozying up with some good books! Grab a cozy blanket, some hot cocoa and dig into a pile of books. You are challenged to mark off 35 badges: there are 30 available for books and 7 for activity challenges. You choose the combination.

Kids (K-Gr 5)
Winter months are a great time to cozy up with some good books. Grab a comfy blanket, hot cocoa and dig into a pile of books. Log your reading time, and when you reach 10 hours you’ll be entered to win our Winter Reading Prize Basket! (If you read 10-15 minutes a day, you’ll have no problem making 10 hours!)

Tween and Teen (Gr. 6-12)

Guide to Using Beanstack
We have a new online program for you, powered by Beanstack. Beanstack is a web and mobile application used to track your reading and activities. You will earn badges in addition to your prizes.

Sign Up: Go to louttitlibrary.beanstack.org. Register an Individual or Family, or sign in if you have an account. When registering a family, you will enter adult sign-up information first, then add the reader sign-up information. Add all your family members from 0-18! You will see the Challenge for the reader you are signing up.

Log Reading & Activities: Start logging your reading and activities! Using a web browser? Look in the top left corner for the log button. Who are you logging for? Reader’s name appears under Log button. Click on drop-down arrow to change reader. You can add another reader from here too.

Earn Badges & Prizes: As readers work through their challenge, they’ll earn badges and tickets to collect prizes!
TAKE HOME PROGRAMS
Take Home Storytime
Check out a complete storytime kit! Each kit will include 3 books, 4 shaker eggs, letter of the day puzzle, craft and a sheet of songs, rhymes and activities all based around a theme.

Take Home Crafts on Thursdays
We'll have a new take home craft kits available every Thursday for pick-up from the library. The kit will have all the pieces of the craft. Just stop by to pick up!
VIRTUAL PROGRAMS
Hibernate, Migrate, or Play in the Snow Program
On Wednesday, December 30 at 11 a.m. come learn about local wildlife species and how they make it through the cold New England winter. Meet a migratory bird and reptiles and amphibians that hibernate. This program is conducted through Zoom and is presented by the Denison Pequotsepos Nature Center. Recommended for ages 5+, families welcome! Registration is required: email Ms. Stephanie to reserve your spot.
Art Lab
Learn how to paint a beautiful winter scene! This program will be conducted on Zoom, and supplies will be provided. Registration Required: Email Ms. Stephanie.
Grades 2-5: Tuesday, December 29 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Grades 6-12: Tuesday, December 29 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
