Programs/Events

Louttit Library sponsors/hosts a variety of programs and events throughout the year.

Annual Events

Celebrate West Greenwich Day

We always have a tent at this September town-wide event:  stop by and say hello, sign-up for a library card, books, maps and items of West Greenwich history are available for sale and a coloring and/or a craft table for the kids

Christmas Tree Lighting

On a Monday evening in early December we gather under the Pavilion to light the town Christmas Tree.  Christmas Carols are led by EWG Girls Scouts, cookies and a hot cocoa bar are available while we wait for the arrival of Santa Clause!

Spring Fair

The Everything and Anything 4-H Club organizes this community egg hunt on Good Friday, held rain or shine. There are small animals to pet, coloring and a storytime.

Touch-a-Truck

On a Wednesday in Mid-July, as part of our Summer Reading Program, members of the West Greenwich Police Department, Department of Public Works and Fire and Rescue Departments bring their fire engines, police cruisers, payloader, dump trucks and other large and very special vehicles for children to explore! Grown-ups love it too!

SRP – Summer Reading Program

Every summer, the library sponsors a Summer Reading Program for all school aged children, designed to combat “the summer slide” or the documented tendency for students, to lose some of the academic achievement gains they made during the previous school year. Prizes, raffles, discount coupons to museums/attractions and other incentives are offered to participants for signing-up and participating in this program.

Movies

We frequently host Movies & Pizza with new and popular G, and PG rated movies.  Check the online calendar or our newsletter for dates, times and selections.
